Alchemy
Spirulina was a prime source of protein for the Aztecs of Mesoamerica, consisting of 65-71% complete protein by weight, compared to beef at 22%. It is dense in vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and carotenoids, antioxidants that protect cells from damage. It contains B complex vitamins, beta-carotene, vitamin E, manganese, zinc, copper, iron and selenium. It also contains detoxifying chlorophyll and gamma linolenic acid, an anti-inflammatory essential fatty acid. Spirulina has been used to treat allergies, ulcers, anemia, heavy-metal poisoning, and radiation poisoning. Animal and test tube studies have shown Spirulina to increase production of antibodies and other cells that improve immunity and help ward off infection and chronic illnesses such as cancer. It has even been shown to promote stem cell growth in mice.*
Chlorella, a freshwater green algae, is also a rich source of protein, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals, used widely to stimulate immune response, increase energy, detoxify the body and treat bad breath, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), asthma attacks and fibromyalgia.*
Phycocyanin are isolated marine organisms that have the characteristics of high efficiency and low toxicity and can be used as a functional food. This blue health gem is more active than Spirulina and is more potent than Vitamin C by 20%. Why is Phycocyanin important? It is known to stop the development of "abnormal" cells. It prevents breakage of DNA strands, while promoting repair as well. It is recommended in cases where the immune system is suppressed, due to the high amounts of Vitamin C. Phycocyanin also effectively reduces the toxicity of chemicals that are ingested. In some cases, it is even known to reduce glucose levels and filter out consequences of excess sugar in the body.
Hemp is an ecologically friendly protein packed with all 8 essential amino acids, fiber, and essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 in an optimal 3:1 ratio.*
Pine Pollen is an excellent source of immune system-feeding polysaccharides, as well as DHEA, a precursor to male and female sex hormones, shown to be associated with high levels of energy and well being, low obesity, enhanced libido, reduced depression and enhanced cognition.*
ANTRODIA: Native to Taiwan, Antrodia has an abundance of research related to its liver-protective and immunity-enhancing qualities.*
CHAGA: Often referred to as the “king of medicinal mushrooms”, Chaga has been used extensively by Traditional Healers in North America, Europe and Asia for centuries. Chaga contains a complex array of bioactive compounds with significant antioxidant and immunity-supporting activities.*
Cordyceps:: Improves vitality and endurance naturally by supporting respiration, oxygen delivery and ATP synthesis. Cordyceps supports aerobic endurance in athletes and research related to general vitality in senior populations gives this mushroom species broad appeal. Cordyceps is also known for its ability to increase circulation and enhance male sexual performance.*
Himematsutake: This tropical species is native to Brazil and is known for its high content of polysaccharide compounds. Agaricus blazei is also known for its effects on triglycerides and cholesterol management.*
King Trumpet: High levels of the antioxidant L-Ergothioneine, a naturally occurring antioxidant amino acid is found in both the mycelium and fruit bodies of King Trumpet. L-Ergothioneine is the only antioxidant that has been found to have its own cellular transport mechanism. King Trumpet also has been researched for its positive effects on cholesterol management and bone health.*
Lion’s Mane:Reported in many studies to stimulate the synthesis of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), a protein that promotes the growth and normal function of nerve cells. NGF is important for cognitive and neurological health.*
Maitake: Maitake contains an array of 1,3/1,6 beta-glucan compounds that have a positive impact on immune function. Maitake has also been shown to help support healthy blood-sugar levels and reduce insulin resistance.*
Reishi:Revered in Traditional Medicine as the “Mushroom of Immortality”, Reishi has a variety of attributes. Reishi acts as an immune potentiator and immune modulator - helping to balance and down regulate an overactive immune system. Reishi has also been studied for its cardiovascular health benefits. Considered a “superior adaptogen”, Reishi assists in adapting to mental and physical stressors.*
Shiitake:: Shiitake is an excellent culinary mushroom species with significant therapeutic properties that include liver, cardiovascular and immune support. New research on the properties of active ingredients in Shiitake has expanded the use of this mushroom to include applications ranging from oral health products to detoxification support. The National Institute of Health has recently supported a grant to the City of Hope for an epidemiological study on the health effects of Shiitake.*
Turkey Tail: One of the most researched of all medicinal mushrooms for its powerful polysaccharides. The beta glucans and other nutrients found in Turkey Tail support immune health.*
Moringa oleifera: is a significant source of antioxidants, vitamins, trace minerals, and all of the essential amino acids. Extensive studies have revealed that phytonutrients and other substances present in moringa have antidiabetic, antitumor, anti-ulcer, anti-epileptic, and antispasmodic effects.*Moringa's high levels of polyphenols can help protect this vital organ with its antioxidant properties and anti-inflammatory effects. It also has the power to reverse oxidation in the liver and ameliorate fibrosis and liver damage.* Moringa also is famed for it's ability to help lower inflammation as its bioactive compounds suppress inflammatory proteins and enzymes in the body. The plant's roots, fruit, and leaves all contain substances that inhibit the production of nitric oxide and inflammatory cytokines.* Moringa may help combat diabetes and high blood sugar in general. This is because the plant contains isothiocyanates, compounds that hinder the ability to raise blood sugar. *
Sunflower lecithin:is rich in choline and other essential fatty acids such as phosphatidylinositol. Sunflower lecithin has been shown to help with acne, improve liver function, lower cholesterol, Improve heart health, aid breastfeeding mothers, help improve digestion, fight dementia symptoms, as well as soothe and moisturize skin.*
Sea Buckthorn: is used to stimulate the digestive system, enhance heart and liver health, and treat skin disorders.
Schizandra: is often called a "five-flavor berry" because it possesses all five of the basic flavors of Chinese herbal medicine: salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and bitter. Having these flavors means that it can benefit all five yin organs: the liver, lungs, heart, kidneys, and spleen.
Gelatinized Maca: is not a gelatin, it is a simple heat process that breaks down the starches in the maca root, allowing for easier digestion. Maca helps balance stress levels and bolster energy and resiliency in the body.
